Wisconsin College Gets $1.5M to Boost Student Success

A Wisconsin technical college just landed $1.5 million to transform how it prepares students for tomorrow's workforce. Lakeshore College in Cleveland received the grant from the Wisconsin Technical College System to close achievement gaps and get more students across the finish line.

The funding tackles real needs in the community. Part of the money will expand the college's Maintenance Mechanic Millwright apprenticeship program with new industry-grade equipment, allowing more students to train for careers in advanced manufacturing and industrial maintenance.

The college's Dental Hygiene program will also get a major boost. The grant supports accreditation work, curriculum development, faculty training, and hands-on learning supplies that prepare students for actual patient care.

But the impact reaches beyond college campuses. Lakeshore is using some funding to partner more closely with local high schools, helping students earn dual credit while still in high school and transition smoothly into career-focused education.
