Women's Group Gives $40K to Help Vulnerable Youth

When vulnerable teenagers need clean clothes or basic toiletries, a small charity in Hepworth, Ontario makes sure they don't have to choose between dignity and their next meal.

TenThirtyFive Grey Bruce runs a voucher program that lets at-risk youth shop for free at their thrift clothing boutique. Community agencies refer participants who can visit up to four times a year, receiving donated clothing, shoes, and accessories plus new essentials like underwear, socks, and personal care items.

The program currently serves 125 women and youth across Grey and Bruce counties, working with more than 30 community partners. But rising costs have made it harder to keep the shelves stocked with the toiletries and basics everyone needs.

That's where 100 Women Who Care Grey Bruce stepped in. The women's giving circle just donated $40,000 to the charity after their May meeting.

The collective works by pooling member contributions four times a year and directing the combined funds to local causes. Each donation represents dozens of women choosing to make a difference together rather than alone.

The Ripple Effect

This donation does more than fill immediate gaps. It strengthens the entire support network that helps young people stay in school, show up for job interviews, and face each day with confidence.

When teenagers have clean clothes and basic hygiene supplies, they're more likely to attend class regularly and participate in activities. Small dignities create momentum toward bigger changes.

The boutique also generates income through public sales, helping cover operating costs while keeping the free program running. It's a sustainable model that turns community generosity into long-term support.

TenThirtyFive Grey Bruce can now expand its reach and serve more people who need help. The $40,000 means months of stability for a program that measures success in restored confidence and renewed hope.
