World Cup Bet Sends $10K to Kids Charity in Miami

A World Cup bet between two Miami restaurant owners just turned sports rivalry into real help for children facing tough times.

Leo Graziano of Graziano's Mercado in Coral Gables and Felipe Valls Jr. of Casa Juancho in Little Havana placed a friendly wager on the World Cup final. The stakes were high, but in the best possible way: the losing side would donate $10,000 to Amigos for Kids, a nonprofit serving vulnerable children.

When Spain claimed victory, Graziano's team lost the bet but won something better. The Argentine restaurant will now send $10,000 to an organization making real change in young lives.

Amigos for Kids provides toys during Christmas, supports children who've experienced abuse, and trains families navigating recovery. "It helps underprivileged kids," Valls Jr. explained. "It guides and helps kids that have been abused and trains for families that are in that situation."
