Rohan Raja thought his dream was about to get shut down. As a young man of Indian descent growing up in Australia, he knew his family valued safe, traditional career paths over "extraordinary" ones like pro wrestling.

But when he finally sat his father down to reveal his plans, something unexpected happened. His dad skipped the lecture entirely and jumped straight to support mode, asking what wrestling school he wanted to attend.

"I was scared for the longest time," Raja told Fox News Digital. "We still have those core values where you don't go for that particular extraordinary career path."

Raja's love for wrestling started at age four when his grandfather, father, and brother introduced him to the sport. Unlike most kids who outgrow childhood dreams, Raja never stopped believing he could make it happen.

He saved money and researched schools, planning to train with legendary wrestler Lance Storm in Calgary. His siblings encouraged him to present a solid plan to their parents, but Raja still braced for pushback.

What makes this story shine isn't just that Raja achieved his wrestling dreams. It's that his family chose to see their son's passion as more important than cultural expectations.

Raja's father and brother became his biggest fans. His mother and sister rallied behind him too. That early support carried him through years of training on Canadian independent circuits, a stint with TNA Wrestling, and eventually to WWE NXT UK.

During a 2019 WWE tryout with 50 Canadian wrestlers, Raja was the only one selected, despite not being a Canadian citizen. He chose to join WWE's UK brand specifically to learn British-style wrestling.

"I think if you go into it with a positive mindset, you can retain so much knowledge," Raja said about his WWE experience, where he learned from industry legends like William Regal.

Raja's journey proves that when families choose encouragement over fear, dreams that seem impossible at the dinner table can become reality in the ring.
