Wyoming Special Olympics Needs Volunteers for Summer Games
Special Olympics Wyoming is calling for volunteers to help run its two-day Summer Sports Classic in Casper this August. Athletes from across the state will compete in five sports, and the community can make it happen.
Hundreds of athletes with intellectual disabilities are ready to compete this summer, and they need your help to make it happen.
Special Olympics Wyoming is recruiting volunteers for its annual Summer Sports Classic on July 31 and August 1 in Casper. The event brings together athletes from across the state for competitions in golf, bowling, cycling, bocce, and softball.
Right now, the organization needs people to keep score, umpire games, help run softball skills stations, and assist with awards presentations. No special experience is required, just a willingness to show up and support.
The action kicks off Friday morning with a Unified Sports Golf Tournament at Casper Municipal Golf Course starting at 8:30 a.m. Bowling competitions follow at El Mark-O Lanes with morning and afternoon sessions.

Saturday brings bocce and softball events at the North Casper Softball Complex, plus cycling competitions at Edness Kimball Wilkins State Park. Before the Saturday events begin, local law enforcement officers will carry the Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" through Casper in a torch run, arriving at the softball complex by 9 a.m.
The Ripple Effect
When volunteers show up for events like this, they do more than keep score or hand out medals. They send a powerful message to athletes that their community values them and their achievements matter.
Special Olympics provides year-round training and competition opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities, building confidence, physical fitness, and friendships that last long after the final whistle blows. Every volunteer hour helps make these life-changing experiences possible.
Anyone interested can register through the Special Olympics Wyoming website or call the office at 307-235-3062. The organization welcomes volunteers of all ages and backgrounds.
This summer, athletes across Wyoming are training hard and dreaming big, and a few hours of your time can help turn those dreams into reality.
