Yale Freshman Breaks 25-Year Javelin Record

Constanza Acevedo arrived at Yale just months ago, but she's already rewriting the record books with a javelin throw that soared past 25 years of competition.

The freshman from Colina, Chile, launched the javelin 45.92 meters at UCF's Black and Gold Challenge in Florida last Friday. Her throw shattered the Yale record of 41.61 meters set by Natasha Bloom back in 1999.

Acevedo didn't just break a school record. She competed against the nation's best and placed third overall, trailing only two All-Americans from Iowa and Michigan.
