Zamfara Gives Police 10 Bikes to Fight Crime

Police in Gusau, Nigeria are getting a practical new tool to tackle crime in places patrol cars can't reach.

The Zamfara State Government donated 10 brand new motorcycles to the Gusau Central Police Station on Tuesday, specifically chosen to help officers navigate narrow streets and difficult terrain where criminals have been hiding. The state also promised to cover fuel costs so the bikes can stay in constant use.

Secretary Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada presented the motorcycles to Divisional Police Officer Abubakar Sani Mohammad, explaining that some parts of the city are simply too hard to reach with regular vehicles. Criminals have been taking advantage of those blind spots.

The gift is already making a difference in police confidence. Mohammad thanked Governor Dauda Lawal for the support and said officers now have "no excuse" but to deliver results against criminal activity in previously inaccessible areas.

The Ripple Effect

This motorcycle donation is just one piece of Zamfara's major security investment in 2025. The state has distributed over 140 operational vehicles to various security agencies since January, showing a sustained commitment rather than a one-time gesture.

The government is also rebuilding infrastructure that helps keep communities safe. Construction crews are currently rehabilitating the Gusau Central Police Station at a cost of 726.9 million naira (about $465,000 USD) and remodeling the Force Command Headquarters for 1.4 billion naira (roughly $895,000 USD).

When police have the right tools and facilities, communities feel safer. When communities feel safer, businesses grow, children play outside, and normal life becomes possible again.

Governor Lawal's administration has made fighting crime a cornerstone priority, and these motorcycles represent the kind of practical thinking that actually works. Not flashy, not complicated, just the right equipment for the job at hand.
