Texas Baker Draws Pre-Dawn Lines at Front Porch Bakery

Long before sunrise each Saturday, lawn chairs start appearing outside a Frisco, Texas home where neighbors know something special is about to happen. They're lining up for fresh sourdough bread, cinnamon rolls, and oatmeal cream pies baked by 21-year-old Angela Henson at her front porch bakery.

Little Bit Bakery has become a local sensation, with customers arriving as early as 6 AM to secure their favorite treats. Many items sell out within hours of the 8 AM opening.

Henson's day starts while most people are still asleep. "I'll wake up really early. I would say my average time is 2:30 in the morning," she said. She spends the next several hours baking everything from scratch in her home kitchen.

Thanks to Texas' Cottage Food Law, Henson can legally bake and sell directly from her home. Her weekly menu changes but features favorites like fresh sourdough bread, English muffins, and those beloved oatmeal cream pies that keep customers coming back.

First-time visitor Delilah Navarette learned the early-bird lesson quickly. "We were way down there. We had no idea how early we had to get here," she said, remembering her concern about missing out.

Regular customer Dana Eagle arrived just after 6 AM on a recent Saturday. "She is amazing. Her goodies... I don't know what she does and what she puts in them, but they are phenomenal," Eagle said. "And they're well worth the wait."

The bakery began during the COVID-19 pandemic when Henson discovered her passion for baking through custom cakes. Last September, she rolled a bakery cart onto her front porch, creating a charming neighborhood shop that quickly attracted devoted followers.

As demand grew, so did Henson's operation. She now produces around 85 loaves of sourdough and nearly 100 English muffins each Saturday. She recently invested in a professional bread oven to keep up with the crowds.

Social media has fueled the bakery's popularity, with thousands of followers tracking each week's menu announcements. Experienced customers know that early arrival is the only guarantee.
