Two Major Solar Groups Unite to Strengthen Clean Energy

The solar energy industry just took a major step forward in making clean power accessible to every American.

The Solar Energy Industries Association and the Coalition for Community Solar Access announced they're combining forces starting in early October. The merger creates the only national trade association representing every single segment of solar and storage, from massive utility projects to rooftop panels on your neighbor's house.

SEIA has been championing solar since 1974, building support for residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects across the country. CCSA spent the last decade making community solar a reality, helping people who can't install their own panels still benefit from clean energy.

Now they're joining forces to become an even stronger advocate for solar power and energy storage at both state and federal levels.

"By bringing CCSA into SEIA, we're creating a stronger, more unified voice for the solar and storage industry," said SEIA CEO Tim Pawlenty. The combined organization will represent companies across every market segment, giving the entire industry more clout when it comes to shaping energy policy.

The Ripple Effect

The timing couldn't be better. Solar and storage already make up over 70% of new power capacity added to America's electrical grid so far in 2026. Energy storage just had its biggest quarter ever in Q2, helping solve one of renewable energy's biggest challenges: storing sunshine for cloudy days.

Community solar has proven especially powerful for renters, apartment dwellers, and people whose homes aren't suited for panels. These shared solar farms let anyone subscribe and save money on their electric bills while supporting clean energy.

The merger means more resources, more expertise, and more political muscle to expand these programs nationwide. It also comes as American solar manufacturing continues breaking records, creating jobs while reducing our dependence on foreign energy.

With one unified voice, the solar industry is better positioned than ever to make clean, affordable energy a reality for all Americans.
