Another focuses on energy storage, following the lead of states from Texas to Illinois. The technology works like a battery for the grid, storing cheaper electricity and releasing it during peak demand when prices would normally spike. It's already pushing down costs in red, blue, and purple states nationwide.

The third bill modernizes residential solar permitting. Right now, outdated red tape can tack an extra $7,000 onto the cost of an average home solar system. Smart permitting would maintain safety standards while making solar accessible to more Virginia families.

The benefits extend far beyond individual savings. Solar and storage shield customers from the wild price swings of natural gas, the biggest driver of electricity costs. Unlike fossil fuels, sunlight is free, and once panels are installed, there's no fuel bill.
