6 Maryland Students Shine in Herald-Mail Achievement Poll

Students across Washington County, Maryland, are proving that dedication, kindness, and hard work still matter in today's classrooms.

The Herald-Mail has opened voting for its Student of the Week award, featuring six exceptional nominees from local high schools. Each student was handpicked by school administrators for showing outstanding academic achievement and community involvement.

The nominees represent a diverse range of talents and passions. Allison Trumble, a sophomore in North Hagerstown High's International Baccalaureate program, balances rigorous academics with active participation in numerous school clubs. Teachers describe her as the kind of student who gives 110% in everything she does.

Brayden Bane from Smithsburg High has made distinguished honor roll throughout his four years while serving as a percussion section leader in the marching band. He's also a member of three honor societies and regularly volunteers for service projects like stocking stuffers and the school clothing closet.

Sydney True at Hancock Middle Senior High has shown remarkable growth as a sophomore, particularly in her challenging classes. What sets her apart is how she encourages her friends to do their best, frequently offering sound advice and positive support.

Micah Rivera, a South Hagerstown senior, excels both in the classroom and on the sports field. Clear Spring sophomore Ella Werner combines academic excellence with being part of her school's state championship volleyball team. Oliver Beverungen from Boonsboro High takes a full schedule of Advanced Placement and honors classes while participating in tennis, soccer, and three academic honor societies.
