Arkansas College Celebrates 6 Graduation Events This May

This May, Arkansas State University–Mountain Home will celebrate hundreds of students crossing finish lines they've worked years to reach.

The college announced six separate ceremonies throughout the month, each recognizing students in different programs from certified nursing assistants to funeral science professionals. The celebrations run from May 6 through May 18 at various campus locations.

"These events are truly the highlight of our academic year," said Dr. Robert Shurley, the college's provost. "They represent dreams realized and challenges overcome for our students and their families."

The ceremonies include traditional cap and gown commencement on May 11, plus specialized pinning ceremonies for nursing and funeral science students. EMT graduates will participate in a "shearing ceremony," a tradition where the tassels from training uniforms are cut to symbolize completion.

The celebration extends beyond traditional college programs. The college is hosting a separate ceremony for secondary center students on May 14 and a GED graduation on May 18, recognizing adult learners who earned their high school equivalency.

All six events are free and open to the community. The college is encouraging families, friends, and neighbors to attend and cheer on the graduates.
