Australia Launches 2.5GW Clean Energy Platform
Singapore investor Equis just launched GreenPoint Energy, consolidating 2.5 gigawatts of battery storage and wind projects across every Australian state connected to the national grid. The platform includes the country's first operational 4-hour battery system and represents a major vote of confidence in Australia's renewable future.
Australia just got a powerful new clean energy platform that's already up and running with enough battery storage and wind power to make a real difference.
Equis, a Singapore-based infrastructure investor, officially launched GreenPoint Energy this week, bringing together 12 battery and wind projects spanning 2.5 gigawatts across every state connected to Australia's National Energy Market. The platform formalizes work that's been happening since 2021 and signals serious long-term commitment to the country's energy transition.
The crown jewel is already operational. The Melbourne Renewable Energy Hub came online in December 2025 with 600 megawatts of power and 1.6 gigawatt-hours of storage, featuring 444 Tesla Megapack units. It's the first 4-hour battery system operating in Australia's national market, and it was delivered on time and on budget after breaking ground in December 2023.
GreenPoint Energy isn't stopping there. Two more massive battery projects are under construction: a 250-megawatt facility in New South Wales set for 2027 and a 200-megawatt system in South Australia targeting 2028. Both secured support from Australia's Capacity Investment Scheme, which provides long-term revenue guarantees to reduce investment risk.

The platform also includes major wind farms. The 600-megawatt Jackson North Wind Farm in Queensland and the 190-megawatt Bell Bay Wind Farm in Tasmania round out the portfolio, with Bell Bay being the only Tasmanian wind project to secure federal backing.
The Ripple Effect
This launch comes at a pivotal moment for Australia's clean energy buildout. Battery storage in the national grid jumped 62% in just one year, reaching 33.2 gigawatts by early 2026. Battery projects now represent nearly half of all energy infrastructure advancing through the connection process.
GreenPoint Energy's strategy focuses on stability and reliability. The company contracts at least 70% of its revenue under 10-year agreements with investment-grade corporations, utilities, and government-backed partners. That approach delivers predictable clean power while avoiding the pitfalls that have slowed other renewable projects, like grid connection delays and contractor shortages.
The three founders leading GreenPoint Energy bring serious credentials: they've previously raised and managed over $6 billion invested in more than 250 renewable and energy transition projects across 10 countries.
Australia's clean energy future just got a whole lot more concrete.
