
Austrian Startup Combines Solar and Wind in Portable Power
A new Austrian company has created a container-sized power station that generates electricity from both sunshine and wind, bringing clean energy to remote locations. The plug-and-play system can be set up in hours and runs on its own smart software.

Novventos Clean Energy, an Austrian startup founded in 2023, has launched a portable power system that teams solar panels with small wind turbines. The whole setup fits on standard shipping containers and can be assembled in just a few hours.
The solar component, called "sky.boost," uses a modular design that snaps together quickly on top of ISO containers. It works alongside "naca.boost," a vertical-axis wind turbine that stands just 3 to 8 meters tall and captures wind energy close to the ground.
Traditional wind turbines struggle with turbulent, swirling air near the surface. But Novventos designed their turbine with a special fairing that channels chaotic ground-level winds directly into the rotor, turning a weakness into a strength.
The real innovation comes from pairing these two energy sources. When clouds roll in and solar production drops, the wind turbines keep generating power. According to the company, two wind turbines can produce 12,000 kWh of electricity while the solar panels add another 3,400 kWh.

A central brain called "master.boost" controls everything. The energy management system monitors both power sources, decides where electricity should flow, and sends all the data to a cloud platform that users can check from any web browser.
The complete package, marketed as "mobile.energy," is designed for places where traditional power grids don't reach. Think emergency response zones after natural disasters, temporary events, mining operations, or rural communities waiting for grid connections. An optional trailer makes the whole system truly mobile.
The Ripple Effect
This hybrid approach could change how we think about temporary and remote power needs. Instead of relying on diesel generators that burn fossil fuels and create noise and pollution, organizations can deploy clean energy systems that work around the clock. Construction companies, humanitarian organizations, and event planners all gain a sustainable alternative that doesn't sacrifice reliability.
