Boston College Wins First Beanpot Title Since 2023

Boston College baseball proved that patience and persistence pay off, claiming their first Beanpot Championship in three years with a hard-fought 3-1 win over Northeastern.

The Eagles found themselves trailing in the fourth inning after Northeastern launched a 426-foot home run to center field. But sophomore Luke Gallo had other plans for his Tuesday evening.

In the bottom of the fifth, Gallo crushed his first career home run 383 feet to left field, tying the game at one. The moment marked a breakthrough for the young player, but he wasn't done making headlines yet.

An inning later, Gallo delivered the game-winning hit. After teammates Nick Wang and Jack Toomey executed a perfect double steal to reach scoring position, Gallo blooped a single into shallow left field that brought both runners home. Those two runs would be all Boston College needed.

The Eagles' pitching staff shut down Northeastern's offense for the final four innings. Jacob Burnham started strong with a career-high 5.2 innings, allowing just one earned run. John Kwiatkowski, Gavin Soares, and Kyle Kipp combined for 3.1 scoreless innings to seal the victory.

Mother Nature tried to interrupt the celebration when rain paused the game for 40 minutes after the eighth inning. But closer Kyle Kipp returned to the mound unfazed, working around a single in the ninth to record his fourth save of the season.
