Brussels to Basel High-Speed Rail Launches July 2027

The trial service will operate three times weekly on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, whisking passengers from Brussels to Basel in about 5.5 hours. Along the way, travelers will pass through stunning cities including Lille, Strasbourg, and even connect near Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Trains will depart Brussels around 7:00 AM and arrive in Basel by 12:30 PM, with return journeys leaving Basel at 2:00 PM. This schedule is specifically designed for weekend travelers who want to explore multiple countries without the hassle of airport security lines and flight delays.

The service represents a partnership between Belgium's SNCB, France's SNCF, and Switzerland's SBB rail operators. Together, they're creating what experts are calling a "weekend rail corridor economy" that prioritizes sustainable tourism over short-haul flights.
