Pilot Flying J Hits 300 EV Charging Locations Nationwide

Summer road trips just got easier for electric vehicle drivers thanks to a major expansion by Pilot Flying J.

The North American truck stop and convenience store chain has installed EV charging stations at more than 300 of its locations across the continent. This year alone, the Tennessee-based company added 50 new charging sites spanning 25 states, making long-distance electric travel more practical than ever.

For the million-plus daily customers who visit Pilot and Flying J stores, this means coast-to-coast coverage with fast chargers and round-the-clock monitoring. Many locations even feature covered canopies so drivers can stretch their legs and grab snacks while staying dry during unexpected summer storms.

The expansion comes three years after Pilot Flying J first dipped its toes into electric vehicle infrastructure with just 17 charging locations. The company partnered with major players like GM and EVgo, along with public agencies and electric utilities, to rapidly build out the network.

But this is just the beginning. Pilot Flying J aims to install 2,000 fast-charging stalls at up to 500 travel centers throughout the United States in the coming years.

The Ripple Effect

This expansion does more than just help individual drivers get from point A to point B. By placing chargers at familiar rest stops where travelers already know they can find clean bathrooms and hot coffee, Pilot Flying J is removing one of the biggest psychological barriers to EV adoption: range anxiety.

The strategic placement of charging stations along major highway corridors means families planning summer vacations no longer need to choose between their dream destinations and their electric vehicles. Whether heading to national parks or visiting relatives across the country, drivers can now plan routes with confidence.
