Meanwhile, Changan is also partnering with CATL on sodium-ion batteries for more affordable EVs. Earlier this month, they launched what they call the world's first mass-production sodium-ion passenger vehicle, offering 186 to 248 miles of range at a lower cost.

The convergence of multiple battery technologies gives consumers more choices. Premium vehicles could offer extreme range with solid-state batteries, while budget-friendly options use sodium-ion technology.
