Modern air-conditioned buses parked at Delhi transport station ready for interstate pilgrimage routes

Delhi Launches Buses to Sacred Sites Across India

✨ Faith Restored

Millions of devotees will soon travel more easily to major religious sites as Delhi rolls out comfortable, eco-friendly buses to Ayodhya, Vaishno Devi, and other pilgrimage destinations. The new service aims to make spiritual journeys affordable and accessible for everyone.

Getting to sacred sites just got easier for millions of pilgrims across northern India.

Delhi's government announced plans Monday to launch direct bus services connecting the capital to major religious destinations including Ayodhya, Katra (home to the Vaishno Devi shrine), and Khatu Shyam in Rajasthan. Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh says the initiative will make spiritual travel both comfortable and affordable for devotees.

The Delhi Transport Corporation will deploy 50 air-conditioned, environment-friendly buses across 17 interstate routes. These 12-meter buses will operate at benchmark rates set by the Association of State Road Transport Undertakings, ensuring fair pricing for passengers.

Delhi has already started running electric buses to neighboring cities in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, including routes to Baraut, Sonipat, Dharuhera, and Panipat. The success of these routes paved the way for expanding to more distant pilgrimage sites.

The government plans additional routes to Ghaziabad, Rewari, Karnal, Rohtak, Alwar, and Jewar to serve daily commuters and regional travelers. Officials are also exploring connections to Bihar, recognizing the large number of people from that region living in Delhi.

The Ripple Effect

This transportation expansion does more than move people between cities. For families who previously struggled with expensive private travel or uncomfortable overnight journeys, these buses offer dignity and ease during sacred pilgrimages.

The environmental benefits matter too. By choosing eco-friendly and electric buses, Delhi sets an example for sustainable interstate travel that other states can follow.

The service particularly helps elderly devotees and families with children who find long-distance travel challenging. Affordable, direct routes mean more people can fulfill their spiritual aspirations without financial strain.

A signed agreement with Bihar is expected soon, further strengthening connections between communities separated by distance but united by faith and culture.

Comfortable, clean travel to places of worship will soon be accessible to everyone who calls Delhi home.
