The barren Gobi Desert is becoming a powerhouse for clean energy, thanks to a groundbreaking project that uses AI to turn wind and sunshine into fuel.

Envision's facility in Chifeng, Inner Mongolia, just earned recognition from the World Economic Forum as a world-leading example of how to make renewable energy work at massive scale. The project converts desert wind and solar power into green hydrogen and ammonia, creating what the company calls a "Green Oil Field" where nothing but sand used to exist.

Here's what makes it special: traditional hydrogen plants struggle because wind and solar power come and go with the weather. Envision solved this problem with an AI system that predicts and balances energy supply in real time, ensuring the chemical process never stops.

The result is the world's first large-scale green hydrogen facility running entirely on renewable electricity. No fossil fuels needed.

Lei Zhang, Envision's CEO, presented the project at a recent gathering in Davos, Switzerland. He called China's renewable energy progress a "civilization-level" advancement that could reshape global manufacturing.

The facility produces millions of tons of green ammonia, which can be used as clean fuel or fertilizer. Unlike traditional ammonia production, which creates massive carbon emissions, this process generates zero pollution.

Envision secured top international certifications including ISCC EU and RFNBO compliance, meaning their green fuel meets Europe's strictest environmental standards. This opens doors for exporting clean energy products worldwide.

The Ripple Effect

This project proves that renewable energy can power heavy industry reliably and affordably. The AI system makes wind and solar as dependable as traditional power plants, removing one of the biggest obstacles to going green.

The model is designed to be copied anywhere with strong sun or wind resources. Desert regions across Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas could follow the same blueprint, turning wastelands into clean energy producers.

By lowering the cost of green hydrogen, the technology makes it easier for industries like shipping, aviation, and chemical manufacturing to eliminate their carbon footprints. These sectors have struggled to find clean alternatives until now.
