EV Owners Hit Record Satisfaction: 96% Want Another

Electric vehicle owners across America just delivered their strongest vote of confidence yet for battery-powered cars.

JD Power's latest study found that EV satisfaction scores hit their highest level in six years, with 96% of new owners saying they'd consider buying another electric vehicle next time. That loyalty holds strong even though the federal EV tax credit ended in September 2025.

The biggest win comes from charging. Public charging satisfaction scores jumped by more than 100 points on a 1,000-point scale compared to last year. More charging stations and wider access to Tesla's Supercharger network transformed what used to be a major pain point into a genuine strength.

Quality is climbing too. Premium EVs saw problems drop by nearly 16 for every 100 vehicles compared to the previous year, landing at just 75 issues per 100 cars. That marks a new record low for defects in the premium category.

Money matters also favor going fully electric. EV owners rated their ownership costs 114 to 117 points higher than plug-in hybrid owners. The reason is simple: all-electric cars skip the engine maintenance that hybrids still require, saving money over time.

The Tesla Model 3 topped the satisfaction rankings at 804 points, while the Ford Mustang Mach-E led the mass market category with 760 points.

The Bright Side

The timing of this satisfaction surge carries extra meaning. EV owners are proving that the technology stands on its own merits, even without government incentives propping it up. Their enthusiasm comes from real improvements in charging networks, better-built vehicles, and lower total costs.

"Improvements in battery technology, charging infrastructure and overall vehicle performance have driven customer satisfaction to its highest level ever," said Brent Gruber, executive director of the EV practice at JD Power.

The message from actual EV owners is clear: the electric future feels better behind the wheel than ever before.
