Florida State Raises Record $106M for Student Athletes

Florida State supporters just proved what's possible when a community rallies behind its student athletes, delivering a record-breaking $106 million in pledges and $86 million in cash contributions in 2026.

The historic fundraising year powered transformative changes across campus. The university completed a major renovation of Doak Campbell Stadium and opened the 150,000-square-foot Dunlap Football Center, giving athletes world-class facilities to train and compete.

But the impact goes far beyond buildings. More than 500 student athletes across 21 sports now have access to better equipment, coaching, and support services. The women's soccer team celebrated their fifth national championship, while softball, beach volleyball, and men's indoor track and field all won conference titles.

The university also launched its women's lacrosse program with one of only two women's lacrosse-only stadiums in the country. That's 20 more young women getting the chance to compete at the highest level while earning their degrees.

The fundraising success came from people at every giving level. The Bowden Society, Florida State's premier donor group, grew by 15.6% to reach 600 members. More than 90% of those members are first-time major gift donors, showing fresh energy and commitment to the program.

Coaches Club giving exploded from $3 million to $11.1 million, a 270% increase that spread support across multiple athletic programs. Two donors even established legacy gifts exceeding $10 million each, ensuring future generations of student athletes will benefit.

The Ripple Effect

When universities invest in student athletes, the benefits extend far beyond the playing field. These young people gain leadership skills, build lifelong connections, and often become mentors in their communities. Many first-generation college students get their education through athletic scholarships, breaking cycles of poverty and opening doors for their families.

The fundraising success also created jobs, brought thousands of fans to Tallahassee for games, and gave the community something to rally around during challenging times. Local businesses benefit from game-day crowds, and the positive energy of championship seasons lifts entire regions.

"These numbers represent people, not just totals," said Seminole Boosters President Stephen Ponder. Every gift, from small donations to major bequests, helps young athletes chase their dreams while getting a world-class education.
