Four Lauderhill Schools Jump from B to A in One Year

Four schools in Lauderhill, Florida just proved that dramatic turnarounds are possible when everyone works together.

At a July 13 ceremony at City Hall, the city honored seven schools for their improved academic performance on Florida's 2026 state report card. Four schools climbed from B ratings to A ratings in a single year: Lauderhill Paul Turner Elementary, Lauderhill 6-12 STEM-MED Magnet School, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary, and Royal Palm Elementary.

Royal Palm Elementary delivered the biggest surprise of all. The school jumped two full letter grades, moving from a C straight to an A rating.

Castle Hill Elementary also improved significantly, climbing from C to B. Meanwhile, Endeavour Primary Learning Center and Rise Academy School of Science & Technology maintained their A ratings, with Rise Academy scoring 78%.

The ceremony brought together school leaders, city officials, and community members to celebrate months of hard work. Jamaican-American Broward County School Board member Dr. Jeff Holness joined fellow board member Debra Hixon in congratulating the schools.

The Ripple Effect

The improvements show how targeted support can transform entire communities. The city recognized its School Transformation Office for providing crucial resources that helped students and teachers succeed.

Commissioner Melissa P. Dunn captured the spirit of the moment perfectly. "These schools have shown what's possible when schools and community work together towards a shared standard of excellence," she said.

The ceremony included remarks from Educational Advisory Board Chair Shayla McCloud and Vice Chair Veronica Boyd. City leaders emphasized that Lauderhill remains committed to educational excellence through partnerships that strengthen both schools and neighborhoods.

When schools succeed, families gain new opportunities, property values rise, and communities grow stronger. These seven schools just proved that meaningful progress happens when everyone invests in the next generation.
