Three high school students in graduation caps holding scholarship certificates from Glasgow Rotary Club

Glasgow Rotary Club Awards 3 Scholarships to KY Seniors

😊 Feel Good

Three Kentucky high school seniors just earned scholarships from the Glasgow Rotary Club for their outstanding academics and community service. The awards will help fund their college dreams in fields from elementary education to pharmaceutical science.

Three Barren County students are heading to college this fall with scholarships in hand, thanks to the Glasgow Rotary Club's commitment to supporting local youth.

Addyson McFall of Barren County High School won the Dr. Juanita Bayless Memorial Scholarship and will attend WKU-Glasgow to pursue elementary education. She's already completed several AP and dual-credit courses through WKU's Early College Program and earned certifications in accounting and business management. McFall balances her academics with tennis, basketball, and multiple school clubs.

Lauren Gatewood, another Barren County High senior, received the school's Rotary Scholarship and plans to study pharmaceutical science at the University of Kentucky. The Governor's Scholars Program alumna will graduate as an AP Scholar with Distinction from the Barren County Magnet Honors Program.

Caroline Bishop from Glasgow High School earned her school's Rotary Scholarship and will study biomedical sciences at the University of Louisville. Bishop is a National Merit Scholarship finalist and AP Scholar with Distinction who also participated in the Governor's Scholars Program.

The Ripple Effect

The Glasgow Rotary Club created these scholarships over 20 years ago to invest in local students who demonstrate academic excellence and commitment to service. The Dr. Juanita Bayless Memorial Scholarship specifically honors a former club president who dedicated her life to expanding access to higher education in underserved communities.

The club funds these awards through an annual auction each November, transforming community support into educational opportunities. This year's scholarships recognize students who've already proven their dedication through hundreds of hours of leadership, service, and academic achievement.

"Each of these students represents the very best of our community," said Jamie McFarlin, Glasgow Rotary Club president. "Their commitment to service and leadership gives us great confidence in the future."

The students will receive their awards at the April 23 Rotary Club meeting, where their families are invited to celebrate.
