GM Adds 250,000 Chargers to One Simple App

General Motors just made a simple change that solves one of the most annoying parts of owning an electric vehicle. Starting now, drivers of Chevrolet, GMC, and Cadillac EVs can find, pay for, and monitor charging through just one app on their phone.

The automaker integrated over 5,000 Electrify America DC fast chargers into its myChevrolet, myGMC, and myCadillac apps. Combined with previously added networks like Tesla Superchargers and Ionna stations, GM EV owners now have access to more than 250,000 public chargers across the U.S. and Canada through a single interface.

Before this change, drivers often needed separate apps for each charging network. That meant downloading multiple programs, creating different accounts, and switching between apps to find available chargers on road trips.

Now the process is streamlined. Drivers can search for charging stations, see real-time availability, plan routes with charging stops, start a charging session, and pay for it all without leaving GM's app.

The Ripple Effect

This integration comes at the perfect time. GM set a new EV sales record last year and became the second largest EV maker in America. The Chevy Equinox EV was the country's best-selling non-Tesla electric vehicle in 2025, doubling its sales from the previous year.

As more people switch to electric vehicles, reducing everyday frustrations becomes crucial. Robert Barrosa, CEO of Electrify America, emphasized that convenient charging experiences matter more than ever as EV travel grows.

The change also shows how charging networks are maturing. Electrify America now operates 1,116 stations with 5,405 charging ports across the United States and continues expanding despite industry challenges.
