A Manchester homeowner received more than just a fresh coat of paint last Friday when dozens of volunteers showed up to transform their living space.

Hartford HealthCare staff teamed up with Rebuilding Together and the Manchester Road Race committee to spend an entire day repairing and revitalizing a local home. The group tackled everything from yard cleanup to painting walls and fixing doors, all focused on one goal: making sure the homeowner can safely navigate their own space.

The project represents a growing understanding that health care happens everywhere, not just in clinics and hospitals. Kimberly Forbes, program director of Community Health and Engagement for Hartford HealthCare Greater Manchester Region, explained the connection clearly.

"Our project today is really significant because it brings to life the work that we do with community health," Forbes said. "Health is your environment around you."
