Homeless 9-Year-Old With Brain Cancer Raises $600K in Days

A chance meeting in a hospital parking lot turned into a lifeline for a family facing impossible odds.

Isaiah Garza, a philanthropist known for helping people through social media, had been following Jazzy's story for months. When he finally met the nine-year-old and her mom, he learned they were living out of their car while Jazzy fought neuroblastoma, a brain cancer she's battled since age two.

Garza approached them asking for food, and Jazzy immediately reached into their trunk to share what little they had. That generosity, even in the face of homelessness and illness, revealed everything about this young girl's heart.

Jazzy explained that her cancer had spread to her brain, spine, and arms. In just two months, she'd undergone three major brain surgeries and had three tumors removed. Her mom had found hope in an experimental treatment in Rome, but the $350,000 cost felt impossible to reach.

"I might die," Jazzy told Garza simply.

Right there, Garza handed the family $1,000 in cash. Both Jazzy and her mom broke down in tears. But he didn't stop there.

Garza created a GoFundMe with a $650,000 goal to cover Jazzy's treatment and help the family find stable housing. He shared their story in a video that reached millions of people within days.

The response was overwhelming. Strangers from around the world began donating, many for the first time ever. One donor wrote, "I literally never donate to these things unless I know the people. I didn't hesitate just now."

In just over a week, the campaign has raised more than $600,000 and is nearly at its goal. Beyond the money, something deeper happened. A community formed around this little girl who offered food to a stranger despite having nothing.

Jazzy and Garza have stayed in close contact, planning her dream vacation to Hawaii and helping her family secure a working car and permanent home. Jazzy now calls Garza "Stitch" to her "Lilo," a bond that started with kindness and grew into family.

She's currently relearning how to walk after her surgeries, but now she has the resources to fight and a world cheering her on.
