Iberdrola Hits Record Clean Energy Output in 2025

One of the world's largest renewable energy companies just proved clean power is scaling faster than ever.

Iberdrola delivered a record-breaking 255,976 gigawatt-hours of distributed energy across its global networks in 2025. That's enough electricity to power millions of homes while keeping the air cleaner.

The United Kingdom became the star performer, with energy distribution soaring 52% after Iberdrola integrated SP Electricity North West into its operations. This expansion helped connect more homes and businesses to cleaner power sources across northern England.

By year's end, Iberdrola's total installed capacity reached 58,343 megawatts worldwide, up 3% from 2024. Wind power now accounts for over 40% of that capacity, while hydroelectric and solar generation make up another 37% combined.

The company also tripled down on battery storage technology, expanding its portfolio to 683 megawatts. New storage facilities came online in Australia, Spain, and the UK, helping solve one of renewable energy's biggest challenges: storing power when the sun isn't shining and wind isn't blowing.

Growth wasn't limited to Europe. Iberdrola's international division saw capacity jump 19% thanks to new Australian facilities. The United States added 5% more capacity throughout the year.

The Ripple Effect

This expansion means cleaner air for communities across four continents. Every megawatt of renewable capacity replaces fossil fuel generation that would have pumped carbon into the atmosphere.

Battery storage makes the entire grid more reliable, allowing wind and solar power to work around the clock. As more companies prove large-scale renewable energy works, others follow their lead.

The 2025 results show renewable energy isn't just good for the planet anymore. It's becoming the practical choice for powering modern life at scale.
