Kansas Farm Student Wins $1,000 Scholarship for Dental Care

A Kansas student with small-town roots and big dreams of helping others just received recognition that will bring her one step closer to a career in healthcare.

Macy Wecker, a 2022 graduate of Olpe High School, has been named the recipient of the $1,000 Arlene Eichorn Scholarship by Friends of CareArc. The annual award honors students who show dedication, integrity, and a commitment to serving their communities.

Macy grew up on her family's farm in Olpe, where her grandparents have lived for over 60 years. Her connection to rural Kansas runs deep, and now she's preparing to give back through dental care.

Currently enrolled in the Dental Hygiene program at Flint Hills Technical College, Macy is set to graduate in May 2026. Her instructors say she stands out not just for her skills, but for her approach to patient care.

"What truly distinguishes Macy is her disciplined approach to learning and patient care," said Rachel Webb, Dental Hygiene Instructor at Flint Hills Technical College. "She's a hard worker who remains focused, organized, and motivated, even when faced with the demanding responsibilities of a dental hygiene program."

In high school, Macy maintained a 3.5 GPA while juggling 4-H, FFA, basketball, volleyball, and track. She earned perfect attendance throughout her time at Olpe High School, showing the reliability that now impresses her college professors.
