Kansas Foundation Awards 46 Students $193K in Scholarships

Forty-six students from Dickinson County, Kansas walked into a celebration knowing their community believes in them enough to invest nearly $200,000 in their futures.

The Community Foundation of Dickinson County recently hosted its annual Scholarship Reception at Sand Springs Venue, where students met the donors and families whose generosity is making their college dreams possible. This year's recipients received 71 scholarships totaling $193,500 from 50 different scholarship funds.

Each scholarship represents more than tuition help. It's a neighbor investing in a neighbor, one generation lifting up the next.

Many students had the chance to shake hands with the people behind their awards. For donors, seeing the faces of students they're supporting made years of planning feel real and worthwhile.

"This is community," said Elizabeth Weese, Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Dickinson County. "When people choose to give in a way that supports students they may never personally know, and then we have the privilege of bringing everyone together in one room, the impact becomes very real."

Most of these scholarship funds are endowed, meaning they'll keep supporting students year after year. Families, businesses, and individuals established them to create lasting legacies through education.
