Kansas Teens Take 27-Foot Wienermobile to Prom

Sometimes the best memories come from just asking the question everyone else is too afraid to ask.

Breckan Andrews and his friends from Seaman High School in Topeka, Kansas, were grabbing food at Sonic the day before prom when they spotted something unusual. The iconic 27-foot Oscar Mayer Wienermobile sat parked at a nearby grocery store, and Andrews had an idea that seemed wild enough to work.

"One of my buddies was like, 'Can we rent this thing?'" Andrews told local news. "I was like, 'Well, what if we just ask about prom? What if they take us? It's tomorrow. That'd be insane.'"

The group walked up to the vehicle and found "Meatloaf Maggie," one of the Wienermobile's official "Hot Dogger" drivers. They pitched their idea, fully expecting a polite no. Instead, Maggie loved it.

"It was like a little light bulb," driver Maggie Dawson said. "We were like, 'Well, what time is prom?' From there, we checked our schedule, and we were able to make it happen."

The Oscar Mayer team made the dream a reality without charging the students a dime. The next night, the group rolled up to their prom in 27 feet of pure hot dog glory while their classmates arrived in standard limos and cars.
