South Tahoe Seniors Win $300K in Community Scholarships

A standing-room-only crowd watched 66 South Tahoe High School seniors receive life-changing news on April 21: their community was investing over $300,000 in their futures.

The annual scholarship night in South Lake Tahoe, California, brought together local businesses, service organizations, foundations, and individual donors who created 220 separate scholarship awards. Students like Ava Galli, Arya Saini, and Diem Johnson heard their names called again and again as different organizations recognized their hard work and potential.

Fifty-eight different donors showed up to celebrate these students, from Barton Health and the Boys & Girls Club to the Kiwanis Club and local memorial funds honoring community members. Some students received awards for academic excellence, others for service to their community, and many for their plans to pursue trades, healthcare, education, and the arts.

The scholarships ranged from support for students heading to four-year universities to those choosing trade schools and community colleges. Local tree service companies funded awards for students in auto and construction programs, while healthcare providers supported future nurses and medical professionals.
