LA Tech Athletes Earn Record 3.42 GPA and 699 Honor Rolls

Louisiana Tech student-athletes just wrapped up their best academic year ever, shattering records in the classroom while competing at the highest levels of college sports.

The athletic department achieved a remarkable 3.42 GPA during spring quarter 2026, the highest term GPA in school history. Over the full academic year, 699 student-athletes earned spots on the Athletics Director's Honor Roll, proving that dedication on the field translates directly to success in the classroom.

The excellence spread across nearly every sport at the Ruston campus. Thirteen of the university's 14 athletic programs recorded team GPAs of 3.00 or higher, with bowling leading the way at 3.80.

Women's basketball and golf teams both set new program records with GPAs of 3.65 and 3.69 respectively. Five additional teams, including soccer, softball, tennis, volleyball, and women's cross country, each topped 3.5 for the term.

Among the standout achievements, 68 student-athletes earned perfect 4.00 GPAs. These weren't students coasting through easy courses; many balanced grueling practice schedules, travel for competitions, and the pressure of performing for their schools.

The academic success came alongside personal milestones. Twenty-three athletes walked across the stage this spring to receive their diplomas, representing programs from football and basketball to bowling and volleyball.

The numbers tell an impressive story of consistency too. For the full academic year, LA Tech Athletics maintained a 3.37 overall GPA. Of the 230 students on the Athletics Director's Honor Roll this spring, 193 received additional distinctions including 134 Dean's List selections and 59 President's List honors.
