Liberia Gets 100 Delivery Beds to Save Mothers' Lives

Mothers across Liberia will soon give birth in safer, more dignified conditions thanks to a game-changing donation of medical equipment to the country's healthcare system.

The Liberia Petroleum Refining Company delivered six anesthesia machines, six patient monitors, and 100 delivery beds to the Ministry of Health this week. The equipment will reach referral hospitals, county hospitals, and health centers throughout the country.

Health Minister Dr. Louise M. Kpoto didn't mince words about the impact. "These machines and delivery beds will directly save lives," she said at the handover ceremony in Monrovia.

The timing couldn't be better. Liberia has been working to expand access to quality healthcare, particularly for pregnant women and patients needing emergency surgery. The new anesthesia machines will allow more facilities to perform safe surgeries, while the patient monitors will track critically ill patients and mothers during delivery.
