Mining Company Gifts Football Gear to 6 Ghana Schools

Cardinal Namdini Mining Limited just delivered a winning goal for young athletes in Ghana's Talensi District by outfitting six schools with brand new football equipment.

The company donated complete kits including jerseys, footballs, boots, socks, and gear bags to schools in Biung, Buugu, Datoko, Digaare, Sheaga, and Tolla. These rural communities now have everything their students need to play, compete, and grow through sports.

"We trust that these sports kits will inspire greater participation in sporting activities, nurture talent, strengthen teamwork among pupils, and create opportunities for healthy competition and personal growth," said Xiao Vincent Sun, Vice President of Cardinal Namdini Mining. The company operates Ghana's largest single-stream gold mine in the region.

The donation reflects a deeper understanding that sports teach life skills classrooms alone cannot. While textbooks build knowledge, football fields build discipline, resilience, leadership, and confidence that students carry into adulthood.

District Chief Executive John Millim Nabwomya celebrated the gift as a significant investment in children's health and development. He noted that many young people have transformed their lives through sports, and this equipment could help identify future athletes capable of representing Ghana internationally.

The Ripple Effect goes beyond the football pitch. Proper sports equipment means more students will participate in physical activity, improving their overall health and reducing sedentary lifestyles. Teachers can now organize regular matches and competitions, creating opportunities for schools to build community connections and school pride.

The donation also strengthens the mining company's partnership with local communities. Cardinal Namdini has previously supported Farmers' Day celebrations, Independence Day activities, and donated thousands of exercise books to area schools worth nearly 60,000 Ghanaian cedis.

Ayariga Mahamudu, Headmaster of Tolla Presby Basic School, expressed gratitude for the ongoing support, noting the donation relieves schools of the financial burden of purchasing sports equipment. District leaders have called for the initiative to expand into an annual Community Unity Sports Festival bringing together schools, families, and traditional leaders.

Students in these six communities now have the tools to chase their athletic dreams while building the character and teamwork skills that will serve them throughout life.
