Man Saves 3 Kids Left Alone in Georgia Mall Parking Lot

When Winfrid Webb saw a tiny girl walking alone through a Cobb County mall parking lot on Monday, he knew something was wrong.

The toddler, just 2 or 3 years old, was heading straight toward the street at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw. Webb jumped into action, recording on his phone as he gently stopped her from walking into traffic.

"Where you going? Whoa, whoa, whoa! You can't walk in the street," Webb can be heard saying in the video he captured.

The little girl looked lost and scared. Webb followed her back to a running car where he found her two young brothers waiting inside, still with no adult around.

One of the brothers got out to help his sister. That's when Webb called Cobb County police, unsure if the children had been abandoned.

Officers arrived and began searching for the mother. According to Webb, police told him she had gone inside the mall to shop while leaving the children in the car.

About 40 to 45 minutes passed from the moment Webb first spotted the children until officers brought their mother out of the mall in handcuffs. Police checked the car's temperature since it was a warm day.

Webb's watchful eye turned a dangerous situation into a safe outcome. He stayed with the children, kept them calm, and made sure they weren't alone until help arrived.

"Thank God I wasn't a bad guy and I was there to help," Webb said, reflecting on how differently things could have gone.

The children are now safe with family members, according to police. Channel 2 Action News has requested the incident report to learn whether charges will be filed against the mother.

Webb's simple choice to pay attention and care enough to act made all the difference for three kids who needed help.
