Miami RedHawks Go 31-0, Sweep Coach and Player Awards

Miami University's men's basketball team just completed one of the rarest feats in college sports: a perfect regular season with a 31-0 record.

The RedHawks became only the fifth Division I program this century to go undefeated in regular season play. Their historic run earned them a No. 20 national ranking and a sweep of Mid-American Conference awards.

Head coach Travis Steele received a unanimous vote as MAC Coach of the Year, the first Miami coach to earn the honor since Charlie Coles in 2005. Star player Peter Suder was named MAC Player of the Year while also earning first-team all-conference recognition.

The awards didn't stop there. Five additional RedHawks received conference honors, showing the depth of talent that fueled their perfect season.

Brant Byers and Eian Elmer both landed spots on the MAC's Second Team. Luke Skaljac earned Third Team honors, while Antwone Woolfolk received All-MAC Honorable Mention recognition.

The Ripple Effect

Miami's success represents more than wins and losses for the Oxford, Ohio community. The team's achievement has brought national attention to a mid-major program, proving that sustained excellence can happen outside basketball's traditional powerhouses.

Their perfect record heading into tournament play also raises the stakes for every remaining game. The RedHawks entered the MAC Tournament as the No. 1 seed, facing UMass in the quarterfinals in Cleveland.
