Michigan School Raises $11K for Veterans Facility Upgrade

A Catholic school spaghetti dinner in Lake Leelanau, Michigan just proved that small communities can make a massive difference for those who served our country.

St. Mary Catholic School raised over $11,000 for VFW Little Finger Post 7731 through their annual open house fundraiser last week. The event served more than 300 spaghetti dinners and brought in over $5,600, which a generous donor then matched dollar for dollar.

The money couldn't come at a better time. The local VFW post is in the middle of a $1 million renovation project designed to make their facility accessible for veterans with mobility challenges.

St. Mary hosts this fundraiser every year, alternating between helping local families in need and supporting community causes. This year, they chose to honor the veterans who gather at Post 7731.

Every volunteer gave their time for free, which means every single dollar raised goes directly to helping veterans. That's 300 dinners cooked, served, and cleaned up by people who wanted to give back.
