Mitsubishi Heat Pumps Now Warm Homes Down to -25°C

Keeping your home warm in winter just got easier and greener, thanks to Mitsubishi's newest heat pumps that work efficiently even when temperatures plunge to -25°C.

The Japanese manufacturer rolled out two new models in their Hydrolution EZY series this June, designed for large homes and small businesses. These 10 kW and 14 kW units solve a problem that's plagued earlier heat pump technology: losing power when it gets really cold outside.

What makes these stand out is their use of propane as a refrigerant instead of traditional chemicals that harm the environment. This switch lets the units heat water up to 75°C, hot enough for existing radiator systems without requiring homeowners to rip out their current heating setup.

The noise factor matters too, especially in crowded neighborhoods. The larger 14 kW model runs at 63 decibels normally (about as loud as a regular conversation), and drops to just 57 decibels in silent mode thanks to triple-layer sound insulation and a large, slow-spinning fan.

Installation takes less time than traditional systems because everything stays self-contained. The refrigerant never leaves the outdoor unit, so installers only need to connect two water pipes and one electrical line. A built-in leak detection sensor adds an extra safety layer.

These units handle heating, cooling, and hot water from a single outdoor box. They work with both standard 230V household power or upgraded 400V three-phase supplies, giving homeowners flexibility based on their electrical setup.

The Ripple Effect

This launch represents something bigger than just new products hitting the market. As Europe pushes toward carbon-neutral heating, homeowners face a real challenge: how do you switch to clean energy without replacing your entire heating system?

Mitsubishi's approach removes that barrier. The units plug into existing radiator networks, meaning families can make the green switch without the stress and cost of gutting their homes. That accessibility could accelerate Europe's transition away from gas boilers.

The efficiency numbers tell the story too. With performance ratings between 3.45 and 4.50 COP, these heat pumps generate three to four times more heating energy than the electricity they consume, slashing both carbon emissions and energy bills.

Making eco-friendly heating affordable and practical for regular homeowners turns climate action from an abstract goal into something tangible happening in neighborhoods across Europe.
