MLB Hosts Drive-In Movie Nights for July 4th Celebrations

This Fourth of July, Major League Baseball is bringing America's pastime back to the big screen in the most nostalgic way possible.

MLB has partnered with four drive-in theaters across the country to host special Independence Day celebrations featuring the beloved baseball classic "The Sandlot" followed by live hometown team games. Families can pull up in New Jersey, Illinois, Georgia, and California for an evening of baseball, movies, and fireworks.

The Delsea Drive-In in Vineland, New Jersey will show the Phillies game after the movie, while McHenry Outdoor Theater in Illinois features the Cubs. Fans in Blue Ridge, Georgia can catch the Braves, and the Paramount Drive-In in California will air the Dodgers game. Each location can accommodate between 400 and 800 cars.

Beyond the double feature, these events pack in the full ballpark experience. Attendees can enjoy classic stadium food, play lawn games, and participate in PLAY BALL activities with giveaways throughout the evening. The night caps off with either fireworks or a drone show, creating a complete Independence Day celebration.

In South Carolina, the Greenville Drive (the Red Sox High-A affiliate) is taking the concept even further. They're hosting a full day of carnival-style festivities at Fluor Field, complete with a picnic atmosphere before joining the drive-in experience broadcast.
