The timing matters because existing data sources often lag five or more years behind reality. That's a serious problem when early-stage firms account for nearly all net new job creation nationwide, according to SourceLink Director Rob Williams.

The dashboard pulls from Quarterly Workforce Indicators Census data and transforms dense government statistics into visual, easy-to-understand insights. Instead of static reports gathering dust, business owners and civic planners now see a living snapshot of Nebraska's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

One eye-opening finding: microenterprises and Main Street businesses make up 97% of all firms operating across Nebraska. That statistic underscores just how vital small-scale entrepreneurship is to the state's economic health and community vitality.

The data also revealed that employment within Nebraska businesses jumps sharply after workers reach age 24. That insight points to opportunities for work-based learning programs and career pathways that could help the state retain younger talent who might otherwise leave.
