New Home Battery Installs in 30 Minutes Like Legos

Installing a home battery system just got as simple as building with toy blocks.

SolarEdge's new Nexis platform is now available across the US, featuring modular battery units that snap together without any wiring between them. The company says installers can complete the entire setup in under 30 minutes, turning what used to be an all-day project into a quick job.

The innovation addresses one of the biggest barriers to home solar adoption. Traditional battery installations require heavy equipment, complex electrical work, and often expensive upgrades to home electrical panels. Many homeowners have skipped batteries altogether because of the hassle and cost.

The new system uses lightweight modules instead of bulky battery packs. Installers click them together to build storage capacity from 5 kilowatt-hours up to 80 kilowatt-hours, enough to power everything from basic backup needs to whole-home systems during outages.

Tate Abdon, who oversees installations at California-based Senga Energy, says the difference is dramatic. "Before SolarEdge Nexis, every battery installation involved a lot of planning and labor," he explains.

His crews are finishing jobs faster with less equipment. "It's honestly like building with Legos," Abdon says. "We're completing installations faster, using less conduit, reducing wall clutter, and delivering a cleaner finished product."

The system also takes up 40% less wall space than comparable battery setups. During power outages, it delivers up to 14.5 kilowatts, enough to run large air conditioning systems when the grid goes down.

The Ripple Effect

Easier installations mean lower labor costs, which should translate to more affordable home battery systems for families. As batteries become simpler to install, more homeowners can add backup power and energy independence to their solar setups.

The platform launched first in Germany, where it generated record orders. The US-manufactured equipment also helps projects qualify for domestic content requirements, potentially unlocking additional incentives for homeowners.

For an industry that's struggled with complexity and high costs, a solution this simple could help solar-plus-storage become the norm rather than the exception.
