Scott McLaughlin crossed the finish line at WeatherTech Raceway and immediately thought of the little girl waiting at home who had never seen her dad win a race.

"Firstly, my little girl hasn't seen me win yet and now she finally has," McLaughlin said during his victory celebration. "Dad is coming home with a trophy, baby."

The win capped a difficult season for the 33-year-old driver. He entered 2026 as a championship contender but struggled to find consistency against competitors like five-time champion Alex Palou. The pressure of underperforming weighed heavily on McLaughlin and his family.

"Karly, I love you, babe, it's been hard, I know," he said, paying tribute to his wife during the post-race interview. The couple is expecting their second daughter during the off-season.
