Nigeria Rescues 10 Children from Suspected Trafficker

Ten children are safe today thanks to Nigerian authorities who stopped a suspected trafficker before the youngsters could disappear. The rescue happened on January 30 in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, after officials received a crucial tip.

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) acted quickly on intelligence reports that morning. By 11 a.m., officers had located the suspect and all 10 children at Kurmi Park in Jalingo.

The suspected trafficker had gathered the children in preparation to transport them to an undisclosed location. Officers arrived before the group could leave the park.

Bako Amos, who leads NAPTIP's Taraba Command, confirmed the successful intervention. The agency worked alongside Sarah Ishaya, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Human Trafficking, to coordinate the rescue.

All 10 children are now in protective custody while NAPTIP investigators work to uncover more details. The suspected trafficker remains in custody as well.
