Nigeria Revamps Cooperatives to Fight Poverty

Nigeria is betting big on an old idea to solve modern problems: empowering the cooperatives that already feed, house, and employ millions of its citizens.

Senator Sabi Abdullahi, Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, announced at the 8th National Council on Cooperative Affairs in Abuja that revamping the cooperative sector isn't just helpful. It's urgent and non-negotiable for the country's future.

The Federal Department of Cooperatives has already prepared new policy directions for adoption, signaling that action is underway. These aren't just plans on paper.
