Nigeria's Taekwondo Federation is betting big on young talent, launching a 2026 action plan that puts kids and grassroots development first.

The federation's board approved the calendar at a meeting in Abuja's MKO Abiola National Stadium. Instead of focusing only on elite competitions, they're putting resources into local tournaments where future champions might be training right now.

The strategy is simple but powerful: get coaches into communities to find young athletes with natural talent. Board members agreed to scout for kids with strong physical abilities who could become world-class taekwondo competitors with proper training.

Regional zones will host more local tournaments to discover these hidden talents. After scouting events, the federation will run zonal camps where young athletes can train and compete for spots in the national program.

The federation isn't forgetting about immediate goals either. They're preparing early for the All Africa Championship in Morocco this April and actively seeking sponsors to support their athletes.
