Nigerian Bank Trains 60+ Women Entrepreneurs in AI Tools

Women entrepreneurs in Nigeria are learning to harness AI technology thanks to a microfinance bank that believes empowering female business owners strengthens entire communities.

Dot Microfinance Bank launched "She Scales with AI" in March 2026 as part of its International Women's Day celebration. The bank partnered with tech education firm Techlytics to offer a free three-day virtual masterclass designed to teach practical digital skills.

The response exceeded all expectations. Organizers planned for 30 to 50 participants but received over 60 registrations from eager female entrepreneurs wanting to modernize their businesses.

The training focused on tools women could use immediately. Participants learned to automate customer conversations through WhatsApp, build functional business websites, and create organized systems for sales and customer service.

Instead of sitting through theory lectures, attendees built real tools for their actual businesses during the sessions. Women set up automated customer responses and launched working websites before the course even ended.

The bank kicked off its Women's Day activities internally with a candid discussion called "Give to Gain: The Real Journey Behind Success." Female employees from different departments shared honest stories about career growth and workplace challenges, creating the kind of authentic conversation that participants said they rarely experience.

When women gain business skills, the impact spreads far beyond individual success. Female entrepreneurs typically reinvest in their families and communities at higher rates than their male counterparts, creating jobs and economic opportunity that lift entire neighborhoods.

By focusing on practical AI tools rather than complex theory, Dot MFB addressed a real barrier many small business owners face. These women now have automated systems that free up time previously spent on repetitive tasks, allowing them to focus on growth and strategy.

Managing Director Victor Udochi explained that giving women practical knowledge and tools builds stronger communities and drives economic development. The certificates graduates received represent more than course completion. They symbolize new capabilities that can transform struggling businesses into thriving enterprises.
