Nigerian Students Get Free College Exams From Local Leaders

Thousands of Nigerian students are heading into critical college entrance exams this year without worrying about registration fees, thanks to a partnership between local government and community leaders.

The Igbo-Eze South Local Government in Enugu State joined forces with the state's First Lady Nkechinyere Mbah and the Rauf Badamosi Foundation to cover exam costs for all students in their region. The program paid for both JAMB (university entrance) and WAEC (secondary school completion) exam registrations.

Chairman Ugo Ferdinand Ukwueze spearheaded the initiative as part of the local government's education support program. His administration ensured every student from Igbo-Eze South could take their exams at no cost, eliminating a barrier that previously kept many talented young people from pursuing higher education.

First Lady Mbah's office specifically covered registration fees for all female candidates, while the Rauf Badamosi Foundation handled WAEC exam costs across the board. The coordinated effort meant no student had to choose between exam fees and other family expenses.
