Nigeria's Major Airports Launch Free WiFi for All Travelers

Travelers passing through Nigeria's two busiest airports can finally stop hunting for signal bars and worrying about expensive roaming charges.

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria partnered with MTN Nigeria to launch free WiFi at Lagos's Murtala Muhammed International Airport and Abuja's Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport this week. The service is completely free and available to everyone from business travelers to tourists to airport staff.

For years, passengers faced the frustration of being disconnected during layovers and delays when internet access mattered most. Now waiting time can become productive working time, whether someone needs to join a video call, check emails, or simply stay in touch with family.

Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director of FAAN, emphasized that reliable internet access is no longer a luxury but a necessity in today's connected world. The initiative supports Nigeria's broader push to strengthen its digital economy and modernize airport infrastructure nationwide.

MTN's Chief Enterprise Business Officer Lynda Nwafor explained that airports are unique environments where people from all walks of life converge and need dependable connectivity. The company designed a simple, intuitive connection process that anyone can use without technical expertise.

Over the next month, MTN teams will be stationed at both airports to help passengers get connected and raise awareness about the free service. The goal is making sure everyone who walks through these gateways to opportunity can access the digital tools they need.
