Para Trap Shooters Smash 3 World Records at Changwon 2026

Three world records fell in a single day as para trap shooters delivered jaw-dropping performances at the World Shooting Para Sport Championships in Changwon, South Korea.

Spain's Meliton Antonio Brinas Mora transformed his 2025 bronze medal disappointment into golden redemption. He scored an incredible 27 hits out of 30 shots in the PT3 mixed trap standing category, setting a new world record and claiming the title he'd been chasing since winning the championships back in 2017.

"Last year, I won the bronze and this time the gold. There are many lessons that I learnt competing in these two events," Brinas Mora said. His perseverance paid off in front of an international crowd eager to witness history.

Switzerland's Murat Pelit had his own redemption story, flipping his 2025 silver medal to gold. The former Paralympic alpine skier, who only started para trap shooting three years ago, couldn't hold back tears after his victory.

"I am back in Korea again. First time was for Winter Paralympics in Pyeongchang and second time, for World Championships here," Pelit said. He'd never won gold at the Winter Games, making this shooting triumph especially meaningful.

Spain celebrated a second gold when Carlos Alberto Linares Molino won his first world championship title in pistol shooting. He competed at the same venue where he'd claimed his first World Cup gold just a year earlier, proving the Korean shooting range holds special magic for him.
